A prayer for what is needed

Agur asks for truthfulness and provision, naming temptations associated with both poverty and riches. Notice that the prayer’s concern is faithfulness to God, rather than comparison with someone else’s circumstances.

Contentment and the responsibility of wealth

Paul warns against the desire to be rich and later addresses those who already have wealth. Compare the warnings about uncertain riches with the call to trust God, do good, and be ready to share.

Give willingly for the good of others

Paul is discussing a collection for believers in need. Follow his emphasis on willing gifts, sufficiency for good works, and thanksgiving to God. The passage directs attention toward generous service, not a formula for personal enrichment.
